Diwali dawn, and the doorstep blooms in powdered colour.

Someone in the house is always up before the rest on Diwali morning, crouched at the doorstep with powdered colour running between their fingers. The rangoli has no blueprint. It starts as a centre dot, opens into petals, and keeps growing until the doorstep runs out. By evening the toran is up and the whole entrance is dressed.

This piece moves that bloom onto the shoulder. A rangoli flower opens across the collar in deep blue petals edged in red, its centre worked like the middle of a kolam. Below it, strings of small beads and tassels hang down the chest in blue, red and yellow — a toran translated into artwork, swinging where it catches the light.

Asymmetric on purpose. Rangoli is never drawn in the middle of the room.

How To Style

Because the artwork sits high on the shoulder, do not cover it — skip the jacket or nehru layer. Cream linen trousers or a beige pleated pant, kolhapuris, and let the tassels do the moving.

The Fine Print

Every piece in the Festive Edit is handcrafted, which means no two are ever identical. Minor variation in placement, density, and tone between pieces is the signature of handwork — it is the craft, not a flaw. If you want two that match exactly, this is not that. Machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle. No bleach. Tumble dry low, or better, air dry.
