There is a specific sound Bengal makes in autumn. The dhak starts before you are properly awake, the smell of shiuli is already in the air, and by the time you reach the pandal, half the neighbourhood is already there in white and red. Ashtami morning is not a dress code — it is a reflex. Laal paar, shaada shaari, hands folded for the anjali.

This piece takes that border and puts it where it can travel. A laal-paar stripe runs vertically down the front and repeats along the sleeve, its red woven-pattern edging set against clean white. Between the borders, red florals scatter the way alpona is drawn on a courtyard floor — by hand, slightly uneven, never twice the same.

How To Style

White on white is the move — pair with off-white linen trousers or cream cargos and let the red border be the only colour in the fit. Kolhapuris or clean white sneakers, depending on how much walking Ashtami demands.

Minor variation in placement, density, and tone between pieces is the signature of handwork — it is the craft, not a flaw. If you want two that match exactly, this is not that. Machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle. No bleach. Tumble dry low, or better, air dry.
